Borgeot Bourgogne Pinot Noir 2022

Brothers Pascal and Laurent Borgeot are the fourth generation of vignerons here and run their estate opposite the village of Santenay. They own 20 hectares of vines across four communes and are very respectful of their land, ploughing to remove weeds as opposed to spraying and using only organic fertilisers. The reds undergo a long pre-fermentation maceration, giving wines of surprising depth and minerality. All the wines are aged in oak, around 25% new and have an immediate charm, although the Premier Crus are capable of ageing.

Hand harvested, sorted then de-stemmed. Around a week of cold maceration before fermentation in open top steel vats at up to 32C with twice daily pigeage. Matured in used barrels for 10 months. Soft and supple with raspberry and cherry fruit flavours and gentle tannins.
